The Systemic Issues

Black and Hispanic students lack access to quality arts education compared to their White peers, earning an average of 30 and 25 percent fewer arts credits, respectively.

Philadelphia’s poverty rate was 23% double the natioal average. In 2020, Philadelphia’s households of color make up roughly 73.1 percent of households earning less than $10,000 a year.

97.2% of music producers on the 2021 Billboard Hot 100 Year End Chart are male and only 10 across the decade-spanning sample (1,522 producing credits) were women of color.
